Have You Ever Been A Victim Of Id Theft Or Credit Card Theft?
I had my credit card cloned and they spent £1200, i was lucky because the card was used in a few shops in spain and i was in the uk at the time, which i could prove,it amazes me because i had only used my credit card twice since getting it ,once online and once in B&Q ,so it must have been easy for the credit card company to find who cloned it, the credit card company after some time gave me my money back.

I’m sorry to hear what has happened to you, i have never had to go through that, my heart goes out to you, also hope that you get all your money back as soon as possible,also the person that done it, i hope he goes to prison for a long time, all the best
yes and it was before the masses were made aware of it ..about 12 years ago …….several banks wanting £35,000 out of me …took a long time to resolve , credit rating went to zero , and dents caused in my marriage …..but cleared up with the help of an agency..!!!
I visited Pakistan first in my life and stayed there for about 2 weeks and came back, the only place I charged the card was the hotels, after about 1 month later the bank call me and asked me weather I have charged your card in the last 3 days for the amount of 480,000 rupees, It was settled because my passport showed the exact date of my return.
have had my card done a few times – they always seem to buy car wheels/tyres! I suppose they are easy to sell.
the scariest id theft was on ebay! somebody found out my id/password and pretended t be me on ebay. they put on about 200 items (D&G handbags, Armani etc etc) all v reasonably priced and all on a 1 day sale (not the usual 7 days). They changed my bank details and so people saw a bargain, clicked buy it now and sent the money thru paypal etc. But of course, I didnt send the goods cos I never had them! Ebay were fantastic but i was lucky to spot it within about 30 minutes of them starting and i was up until about 2am sorting it all out.
Moral of story – change your p/w regularly and make sure it is hard to guess.
Yes i got my new card stolen by a post office employee.
I was moving house so was on re-direct but never arrived. (Very close freind still lived at previous address so it didn’t end up their either). They spent about £800, mainly in supermarkets and cash back. As they got to sign it the signatures matched, and the bank didn’t see anything odd in my transactions even though the account was only used for standing orders/direct debits before this point, for 5 years!!!
Only discovered it quickly as checked my account on line. Didn’t even know card was coming.
Took me months to get the money back from the bank and all teeh time they we’re issuing me charges as it had taken me seriously over drawn.
