All they need is your SS and name with that they can get a copy of your Birth Certificate, Credit Report, Tax Records and so on.
Sometimes it’s even easier because some corrupts government and bank employees sell your personal information to criminal groups.
Believe it or not many banks do not care if your name is misspelled or incomplete, and they don’t even verify your date of birth all they do is check your credit report using the SS so anyone can ask for a BIG loan and Credit Cards using your identity.
The same goes for police, if a criminal is arrested carrying no documents, he/she can give your name and SS and from that moment on you have a criminal record and even become wanted as a fugitive if the impostor scape of skip bail (It had happens many times).
What does the government do about it? Nothing.
If they have a name and social, they can be well along the way to getting whatever they need to steal your identity
